Michael Degnan,MSc
anaplastologist

Buffalo boomerang and native 2005: BFA degree in Medical Illustration:

Cleveland Institute of Art, Case Western Reserve University, and Cleveland Clinic. First time observing surgery, met and interned with Fred Harwin, fredharwin.com, intro to ocularistry (prosthetic eyes).

2008: Internship in Anaplastology/Medical Sculpture with Juan Garcia in Department of Art as Applied to Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. First intern, now an MS program in Anaplastology.

2008: Attended Schuler School of Fine Arts (Baltimore, MD) as part of internship. Atelier drawing and sculpting methods, e.g. silverpoint and cast drawing.

2012: First American candidate and graduate of MSc in Maxillofacial & Craniofacial Technology, Department of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, Kings College London. In person program.

Specialized in birth condition (congenital) conditions as well as areal metrology (3D measurement for quality control). Medical charity trip to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania as part of degree. Assisted professor in providing over 50 prosthetic eyes to patients in two weeks.

Founded Buffalo Center for Anaplastology (BCA) in 2019 after seeing a need to serve a larger patient population in our region.

Continue to grow and now serving a broad patient group including body and limb prostheses (somatic).
